New cheeses, March events, and the lineup

It's Winnimere season, y'all! What's Winnimere, you say? So glad you asked! Jasper Hill Farm makes this farmstead cheese using only the rich winter milk of their herd of Ayrshire cows, wraps the wheels in spruce bark from the farm, then washes them in a craft brew from nearby Hill Farmstead Brewery. I cut into the first wheels today and am pretty blown away. They are incredibly luscious, a bit stinky, and most distinctively, salty and bacon-y!

Brand spankin' new to The Bloomy Rind this week are two cheeses from Tumalo Farms in Bend, Oregon. My brother, who lives in Bend, first told me about them last year. Tumalo Farms makes an assortment of goat and goat/cow cheeses. I've selected a couple that I'm particularly fond of: Classico, a aged gouda-style cheese, and Pondhopper, a cheese made with a local-to-them microbrew beer to give the cheese a subtle bit o' hoppiness.

Pick up these and all your faves Saturday at the Nashville Farmers' Market (10am - 2pm inside the Market House).
